Workshops | UNESCO Walk & Byzantine Glass Mosaic Workshop

Explore 3 UNESCO sites: St. Demetrios, Osios David, and Greece’s only preserved Byzantine Bath. Then, make your glass mosaic in our studio at Koule Kafe Square, the historic heart of Byzantine life. A 5-hour creative journey from ancient motifs to a handmade souvenir in Thessaloniki

-The Byzantine Journey: Walk, Discover & Create

Join us for a 5-hour immersive experience that connects Thessaloniki’s living history with your own creativity. As glass art instructors, we guide you through the city’s soul, from ancient masterpieces to a modern handmade souvenir.

-The Heritage Walk

Our journey begins at the Church of St. Demetrios (UNESCO) to explore its rare mosaics and the atmospheric underground Crypt. We then hike to the heart of the Upper Town (Ano Poli) to the Monastery of Latomou (UNESCO). There, you will see the world’s unique 5th-century "Beardless Christ" mosaic and enjoy the best panoramic view of the city. Our walk concludes at the Byzantine Bath (UNESCO), the only preserved bathhouse of its kind in Greece.

-The Glass Studio Experience

The exploration leads to our bright studio at the historic Koule Kafe (Romfei) Square, once the bustling center of Byzantine life. After a warm welcome with traditional Greek coffee and sweets, it’s time to create.

-Make Your Own Art

Using our intuitive glass mosaic technique, you will create your own unique artwork. To make the process simple for beginners, we provide a selection of prepared Byzantine motifs, such as crosses, floral patterns, and architectural designs. You’ll choose the pattern you like, select your favorite glass colors, and assemble your mosaic step-by-step with our guidance. No experience is needed. Your finished piece is safely packed to fit perfectly in your luggage—a lasting handmade souvenir of your artistic journey in Thessaloniki.
